Job summary

Big Sandy Community & Technical College is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Aid Advisor I to join our Financial Aid Office. This role helps students navigate the financial aid process, ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, and support student success through financial literacy and access.

You will provide front-line service to students, families, and staff, assist with intake and review of applications, update records in financial aid systems, and help with

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line customer service to students, families, and staff regarding financial aid processes and deadlines.
• Assist with the intake and review of financial aid applications and documentation.
• Enter and update student data in financial aid systems with accuracy.
• Maintain organized student files in compliance with FERPA and other regulations
• Respond to general inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
• Support outreach events and financial aid workshops.
• Perform basic verifications on submitted documentation.
• Refer complex or unusual cases to senior staff or supervisors.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with financial aid policies, software, and best practices.
• Assist with other duties such as the scholarship process and special projects as assigned by the director of Financial Aid.
