Job description

Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs, the Financial Aid Coordinator counsels students, prospective students, and parents on matters related to institutional, federal, and state student financial aid programs, as well as alternative sources and methods of financing educational costs. Responsibilities include completing weekly reports, making and revising financial aid awards, and resolving issues professionally and customer-focused. The coordinator also represents the Office of Financial Aid at campus events, student orientation, and training sessions. Additionally, the role involves assisting with the administration of private loan programs, including disbursements, addressing loan issues with financial aid staff and lending agencies, and coordinating private loan reconciliation and returns with other college offices. The coordinator manages efforts on Default Management for student loan borrowers.

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs.

Candidate must have considerable knowledge of federal, state, and college guidelines for administering financial aid programs. The ability to be sensitive to the concerns of economically disadvantaged students and parents, diffuse difficult situations, work independently, and administer complex procedures and regulations is essential. The candidate should be capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Attention to detail, efficiency, accuracy, and strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
