Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, the general public, and College personnel.
  • Use professional telephone etiquette when receiving and redirecting calls to ensure clear and respectful communication.
  • Assist students with the financial aid application process, reinforcing LC’s dedication to removing barriers to education.
  • Review documents for completeness and accuracy to maintain compliance.
  • Order and maintain office supplies and official forms from federal/state agencies and the financial aid office.
  • Monitor lobby computers and assist students with electronic FAFSA completion and student loan procedures.
  • Assist in training and monitoring student workers, fostering a culture of inclusion, professional growth, and collaboration.
  • Represent the college and financial aid office at orientations, high schools, and outreach initiatives with professionalism and integrity.
  • Provide administrative support for office projects and reporting requirements.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to provide general receptionist and clerical support to the Financial Aid Department, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment that reflects Lewis and Clark Community College’s mission to empower students through accessible, high-quality education. This role upholds LC’s core values of student success, inclusion, integrity, and community engagement by delivering courteous assistance, accurate information, and timely support to students, staff, and visitors. Through professional service and attention to detail, the position contributes to LC’s commitment to lifelong learning and equitable access to educational opportunities.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, the general public, and College personnel.
  • Use professional telephone etiquette when receiving and redirecting calls to ensure clear and respectful communication.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to student inquiries and requests.
  • Explain financial aid programs, procedures, and requirements to students in a manner that promotes understanding and equitable access.
  • Assist students with the financial aid application process, reinforcing LC’s dedication to removing barriers to education.
  • Review documents for completeness and accuracy to maintain compliance.
  • Review and order financial aid forms for accuracy, ensuring resources are available to support student needs.
  • Maintain copier, printer(s), and fax machines to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Order and maintain office supplies and official forms from the U.S. Department of Education, Illinois state agencies, and the financial aid office, supporting LC’s commitment to excellence and accountability.
  • Monitor lobby computers and assist students with electronic FAFSA completion and student loan procedures.
  • Assist in training and monitoring student workers, fostering a culture of inclusion, professional growth, and collaboration consistent with LC’s mission and values.
  • Represent the college and financial aid office at Lewis & Clark orientations, high schools, and outreach initiatives with professionalism and integrity.
  • Provide administrative support for office projects and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as the College’s Community College Benefits Navigator, a dedicated campus-wide and community liaison, helping students identify, apply for, and secure essential resources from federal, state, or local assistance programs that support their academic success.
  • High school graduate supplemented by office technology course work.
  • Six months experience in office environment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Microsoft Word experience.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to be flexible and manage priorities in a multitask environment.
  • Associate Degree;
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Lotus Notes, Perceptive and internet.
