Job summary

Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts Llc in California is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor I to serve as the primary on-campus contact for students applying for financial aid, calculating tuition adjustments, and guiding loan repayment details.

You will package awards, coordinate with tracking systems, and assist with CAL Grants, scholarships, VA benefits, and other funding sources, while helping students plan payments and repayment strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • 2 years prior work experience in financial aid, collections, and lending.
  • Customer service experience is desirable.
  • Organizational knowledge of educational institutions.
  • Registrar experience or support preferred.
  • Knowledge of software applications including Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • The FAA I is the primary interface for students to determine eligibility for financial aid and assist with the application process.
  • Calculate tuition amounts/adjustments and counsel students on debt implications and loan payback timelines.
  • Package student assistance awards and schedule awards in tracking systems.
  • Perform Tuition Adjustment Calculations and Return to Title IV (R2TIV) funds calculations for withdrawals or leaves of absence.
  • Explain payment requirements on unfunded balances and secure signed payment plans before program start.
  • Assist students in applying for CAL Grants, program-specific aid, scholarships, and VA benefits.

This is a ground position working on Campus.Job Type: Full-timeHourly Pay Range:Benefits:Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceLife insuranceShort-term and long-term disability coverageEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Flexible Spending Accounts (Health, Dependent Care, Transit & Parking)Health Savings Account (HSA) with enrollment in a qualified medical planPaid time off401(k) retirement planBasic FunctionThe Financial Aid Advisor I [FAA I] is the primary interface for students to determine eligibility for financial aid, aid in the application process for financial aid, calculation of tuition amounts/adjustments, and counsel students on the implications of debt, and the cash flow and timing requirements of loan payback. The FAA I is also responsible for assisting students in applying for any other funding that may be available to them, including CAL Grant programs, program-specific assistance (such as nursing or ultrasound, etc.), scholarships and grants, VA, vocational rehabilitation programs, etc.The FAA I is also responsible for packaging student assistance awards, scheduling the awards correctly in the Gurnick tracking systems, and updating the information during repackaging, crossover award year reapplications, and at student exit interviews for withdrawing, LOA, or graduating students.
