Job summary

Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts on campus in Concord, CA seeks a Financial Aid Advisor I to guide students through federal and institutional aid processes, calculate tuition impacts, and counsel on debt and repayment. The FAA I will package awards, manage updates in tracking systems, and assist with exit interviews for graduates or those withdrawing.

The role requires 2 years in financial aid or related fields, strong communication, and detail orientation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; registrar or school experience helpful.
  • Two years of financial aid, collections, or lending experience encouraged.
  • Strong communication, detail orientation, and deadline discipline required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary interface for students to determine financial aid eligibility.
  • Assist with application processes, tuition calculations, and loan counseling.
  • Package aid awards and schedule them in the school’s tracking systems.
  • Conduct R2TIV calculations and explain payment plans to students.
  • Support CAL Grant, VA, and other funding programs and exit interviews.

Gurnick Academy is a leading California private healthcare college offering an extensive variety of Nursing, Allied healthcare, and Imaging programs.We are currently seeking an Financial Aid Advisor I for our Concord, CA Campus. This is a ground position working on Campus.Job Type: Full-timeHourly Pay Range:Benefits:Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceLife insuranceShort-term and long-term disability coverageEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Flexible Spending Accounts (Health, Dependent Care, Transit & Parking)Health Savings Account (HSA) with enrollment in a qualified medical planPaid time off401(k) retirement planBasic FunctionThe Financial Aid Advisor I [FAA I] is the primary interface for students to determine eligibility for financial aid, aid in the application process for financial aid, calculation of tuition amounts/adjustments, and counsel students on the implications of debt, and the cash flow and timing requirements of loan payback. The FAA I is also responsible for assisting students in applying for any other funding that may be available to them, including CAL Grant programs, program-specific assistance (such as nursing or ultrasound, etc.), scholarships and grants, VA, vocational rehabilitation programs, etc.The FAA I is also responsible for packaging student assistance awards, scheduling the awards correctly in the Gurnick tracking systems, and updating the information during repackaging, crossover award year reapplications, and at student exit interviews for withdrawing, LOA, or graduating students.
