Job summary

New York Life - Melville is seeking an experienced financial advisor to help clients design and implement strategies to reach their goals, with a bachelor’s degree in business or finance and a track record of building long‑term relationships.

You will provide products like life insurance and mutual funds, build customized plans, and ensure excellent client service while maintaining detailed client records in a trusted mutual-company environment.

Qualifications

• Exemplary communication skills, math skills, relationship skills, and customer service skills are vital.
• Relevant knowledge of the financial industry, financial products, best practices, and tax regulations is vital.
• Computer proficiency including MS Office, Google Suite, CRM systems, and financial planning software is vital.
• Current professional license CPA, or CFP (Certified Financial Planner license from Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards) and FINRA Series 7 and 66, is required
• Previous success in financial services as a financial planner, personal financial advisor, financial analyst, or financial consultant is needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in implementing financial recommendations such as life insurance, mutual funds, savings plans, and other financial products
• Seek, identify, and approach new prospects continuously and establish strong relationships with new clients as their trusted advisor
• Design customized financial plans suitable for each client based on potential life changes and changing financial needs
• Ensure exceptional customer service is provided to existing clients; track and monitor communications in the client file, including strategies and financial advice given
• Collect each client’s financial information to determine financial status, financial goals, cash flow, and financial expectations
