Job summary

Grimes & Company Wealth Management is seeking an experienced Financial Advisor to serve high-net-worth individuals and families across the country, delivering comprehensive financial planning and investment guidance. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience as an Investment Adviser Representative or in a comparable wealth management role
  • CFP® designation strongly preferred
  • Series 65 license required or ability to obtain within the required timeframe
  • Extensive experience with high-net-worth individuals and families and fiduciary-level advice
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, investment management, retirement planning, and wealth strategy
  • Experience with estate planning, trusts, and/or tax planning preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal specialists while independently managing client relationships

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships by understanding goals, priorities, risk tolerance, and evolving circumstances
  • Lead advisor to new and existing clients, providing high-level service and ongoing planning and investment needs
  • Conduct discovery meetings to gather information for comprehensive financial plans
  • Develop, implement, and update comprehensive financial plans including retirement, investment, estate, and wealth transfer strategies
  • Advise on asset allocation and investment strategies while maintaining Investment Policy Statements
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and internal specialists to deliver coordinated wealth management solutions
  • Identify opportunities to deepen relationships and develop new client opportunities
  • Explain complex financial concepts clearly in client meetings, calls, and presentations
  • Stay informed on market trends, tax considerations, and regulatory changes with fiduciary compliance
  • Perform compliance activities and follow firm policies; participate in RFPs and business development
  • Maintain organization, follow-up, and responsiveness in a fast-paced environment
  • Limited travel may be required
  • Perform other related duties as required

Recently recognized as one of the 2025 Best RIAs to Work For, we are continuing to grow and are seeking an experienced Financial Advisor to join our collaborative advisory team.

About The Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced Financial Advisor to serve as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals and families, develop and deepen long-term client relationships, and provide comprehensive financial planning and investment guidance. The successful candidate will bring significant industry experience and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with internal specialists and the broader advisory team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships by understanding clients' goals, financial priorities, risk tolerance, and evolving circumstances, while delivering thoughtful advice aligned with their long-term objectives.
  • Serve as lead advisor to new and existing clients, providing a high level of service and acting as a primary point of contact for ongoing planning and investment needs.
  • Conduct client discovery meetings and gather information on income, expenses, insurance, tax considerations, estate plans, financial objectives, and other relevant factors needed to develop and maintain comprehensive financial plans.
  • Develop, implement, and update comprehensive financial plans, including retirement planning, investment management, estate and wealth transfer considerations, and other strategies designed to help clients achieve their goals.
  • Consult with clients on asset allocation and investment strategies as their goals, circumstances, and market conditions evolve, and maintain Investment Policy Statements and related planning documentation.
  • Partner closely with Portfolio Managers and internal specialists across investments, retirement planning, insurance, tax, estate planning, and other areas to deliver coordinated wealth management solutions and exceptional client service.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to deepen existing relationships, cultivate referrals, network within the community, and develop new client opportunities that contribute to the continued growth of the firm.
  • Communicate complex financial concepts clearly and confidently through regular client meetings, phone calls, email, presentations, and other appropriate channels.
  • Stay informed on market trends, economic developments, tax considerations, and regulatory changes, and communicate relevant information to clients while maintaining the highest standards of fiduciary responsibility and compliance.
  • Complete required compliance activities, respond to the Chief Compliance Officer and other compliance personnel as requested, and follow all firm policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Requests for Proposal and other business development activities, including opportunities involving retirement plans, endowments, or other institutional relationships, as appropriate.
  • Maintain a high level of organization, follow-up, and responsiveness in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Limited travel may be required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience as an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR), Financial Advisor, or in a comparable wealth management role
  • CFP® designation strongly preferred
  • Series 65 license required or ability to obtain within the required timeframe
  • Extensive experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families and delivering fiduciary-level advice
  • Strong understanding of comprehensive financial planning, investment management, retirement planning, and wealth strategy
  • Experience with estate planning, trusts, and/or tax planning is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal specialists while independently managing client relationships and responsibilities
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and follow‑up skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts
  • Demonstrated relationship‑building skills and a genuine desire to help clients achieve their financial goals
  • Resourceful, self‑motivated, and comfortable taking initiative in a fast‑paced environment

Salary Range

$110,000 – $200,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
