Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Beadle Business Center is seeking a Finance Specialist to provide trusted financial guidance across a broad range of functions. You will manage an assigned portfolio, advise on funding strategies, and ensure compliance across state accounts, grants, service centers, and revolving funds.

The role supports sponsored research through post-award administration and offers the potential for a hybrid schedule after the initial training period, with supervisor approval

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus four years of related experience in financial management, accounting, grant administration, or related field.
• Experience working with SAP or another large integrated financial system.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in compliance with laws and university policies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Managing an assigned portfolio, advising on financial management, funding strategies, and compliance across funding sources.
• Supporting sponsored research through post-award grant financial management and administration.
• Providing consultative guidance on university financial policies, sponsored programs, and business processes.
• Reviewing and coordinating complex financial activities including travel, contracts, journal entries, accounts receivable, capital assets, and other financial transactions.
