Job summary

Riverside Elementary School District No. 2 is seeking a Finance Specialist to support the district’s financial operations. The role covers accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, general ledger, grant reporting, budget monitoring, fixed assets, payroll support, and audit support.

The position is non-supervisory and reports to the Executive Director of Business Services. Requires an associate degree (bachelors preferred) in accounting/finance and at least three years in school

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible accounting experience; Arizona school finance preferred.
• Experience providing technical training, guidance, or cross-functional support.
• Strong knowledge of governmental or fund accounting and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review accounting activities for accuracy and proper authorization.
• Prepare, record, and reconcile journal entries and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare financial reports in accordance with federal/state requirements and district procedures.
• Maintain financial transaction records for invoices, payments, revenues, and expenditures.
• Provide guidance and training to District staff on accounting practices and internal controls.
• Complete monthly and year-end closing activities including reconciliations.
• Coordinate accounts payable and accounts receivable activities and reporting.
• Assist with grant reporting, budget monitoring, and procurement processes.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and schedules.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure compliance with internal controls and district policies.
