Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Operations Associate to process financial information and support accounting systems in a fast-paced environment.

You will balance daily ledgers, respond to client inquiries, and help maintain standard operating procedures while safeguarding confidential data and meeting service levels.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Basic Excel knowledge required.

Responsibilities

  • Process forms of financial information and enter into accounting systems.
  • Balance daily general ledger and reconcile financial transactions.
  • Resolve client issues using SOPs and training resources.
  • Maintain procedures and SOPs for consistency.
  • Provide confidential information handling and escalation as needed.
  • Support with financial processes and cross-functional improvements.

About the Role

Perform routine financial processes and transactions for the Corporation. Apply basic financial or accounting principles to identify and accurately enter financial information. Support operational functions by assisting with Financial Services products including H&R Block Emerald Prepaid MasterCard®, Spruce, Refund Transfer, Emerald Advance Loan, Refund Advance, Savings and more. Research and respond to inquiries received from internal departments, as well as, external clients which are escalated via the Client Service Organization. Use cross-functional tools and resources to increase overall operating efficiencies, operational documentation and planning. Partners with teammates and manager when standard procedures have been met and takes ownership over an issue until it is resolved and responded to in a timely fashion.

Day to day you'll...
  • Processes various forms of financial information and materials and enter financial information into accounting or other financial systems including working incoming ACH deposits, report exception items and account maintenance requests from clients. Daily general ledger balancing and reconciliation of financial transactions.
  • Interpret clients needs and utilize resources such as training, standard operating procedures, and systems to resolve client issues. Responds timely to inquiries and conducts all necessary research to resolve customer requests, including, contacting clients directly with resolution
  • Responsible for validating accuracy of data from financial systems and resolving any discrepancies, exception items or unmatched reconciliation items.
  • Executes established procedures within established service levels (SLA)
  • Gathers and summarizes data; conducts research and analyzes information with the intention of resolving discrepancies or client inquiries
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures
  • Serves as a contact for operational support by using professional and excellent customer service skills, demonstrating sensitivity or empathy for escalated client issues received from the Client Service Organization and Field Support Teams
  • Obtains, researches, and processes confidential/legal information.
  • Participates in the development, improvement, and implementation of current financial processes, as well as, new/acquired processes
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • College degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Basic Excel knowledge

  • Ability to work independently and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and to assimilate into a useful format.
  • Working knowledge of banking processes and regulations Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn web-based systems and maneuver between multiple systems at one time
  • Experience with SQL
  • Ability to navigate on the Internet.

Pay Range Information

The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.

Pay Range

$18.41 - $27.64/Hr.
