Job summary

The City of Nacogdoches is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance Department and drive advanced accounting operations, financial reporting, and capital asset management for public funds.

With a Bachelor's in accounting/finance and at least two years of governmental experience, you will ensure GAAP/GASB compliance and oversee annual audits. A Public Funds Investment Act certification within a year and a Texas license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field.
• At least two years of accounting experience; governmental/grant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, GASB standards, and public finance laws.
• Public Funds Investment Act Certification required within one year of employment; Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger accounts, perform reconciliations and review financial transactions.
• Manage capital asset accounting, depreciation and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) tracking.
• Monitor budget activity, prepare variance reports and assist with annual ACFR preparation.
• Coordinate audit activities and serve as a liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
