Qualifications

Job description

A leading global firm is looking to add a Project Finance Associate to its New York team. This team looks at transactions and opportunities across the energy sector.

This individual will work closely with senior professionals to evaluate, structure and execute project financings across the energy and infrastructure sectors. The role will provide significant transaction exposure and responsibility across financial analysis, modeling, due diligence, financing execution and ongoing portfolio management.

The position is well suited to someone with 2–5 years of relevant project finance experience from an investment bank, infrastructure investor, developer, energy company or similar environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and execute project financing opportunities across energy, power, infrastructure and related sectors.
• Build, maintain and review detailed project finance models, including cash flow forecasts, debt sizing, sensitivities and return analysis.
• Support the structuring and execution of debt financings, including construction, term and other project-level facilities.
• Perform financial, commercial and credit analysis on new transactions.
• Coordinate due diligence processes across technical, legal, tax, insurance and other workstreams.
• Review transaction documentation and work closely with internal teams, lenders, advisors and other external counterparties.
• Prepare investment, credit and transaction materials for senior management and internal approval processes.
• Support negotiations and transaction execution through financial close.
• Monitor existing investments and financings, including project performance, covenant compliance and financial reporting.
• Conduct market and industry analysis to support new opportunities and strategic decision-making.

Candidate Profile

• 2–5 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, structured finance or a closely related field.
• Experience within an investment bank, commercial bank, infrastructure or energy investor, developer, independent power producer, utility or other relevant organization.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, with direct experience building or working with project finance models.
• Understanding of project-level debt structures, credit analysis and transaction documentation.
• Exposure to power, renewable energy, conventional energy, infrastructure or energy transition assets preferred.
• Experience supporting transactions from initial evaluation through financial close.
• Strong commercial judgment with the ability to understand both financial and underlying project risks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Accounting or a related discipline.
