Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking an Executive Director of Finance & Planning in the Office of Global Affairs to provide strategic leadership for budgeting, accounting, procurement, and payroll while ensuring compliance with regulations.

The role partners with the Senior Vice Provost to analyze goals across units, develops budgets and financial forecasts, and implements controls to sustain fiscal health and operational success across the campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with progressive budget responsibilities.
• Experience supervising professional staff and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of financial analysis, planning, policies, and procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and database management.
• Strong written and oral communication for non-financial audiences.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Directs financial activities including budget creation, forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
• Ensures compliance with University, state, and federal regulations and GAAP.
• Partners with Senior Vice Provost to analyze goals and advise on financial strategy.
• Oversees contract initiation, procurement, and vendor management.
• Leads staff planning and budget administration across units.
