Job summary

The University of South Alabama’s Department of Biochemistry seeks a Financial Operations Specialist I to manage the department’s financial and administrative activities on the Mobile campus. You will monitor funds, reconcile expenses, and assist with budgeting, while ensuring compliance with funding regulations and collaborating with COMBO and Grants offices.

Proficiency in Banner, Banner Finance, Concur, and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or accounting with relevant clerical accounting experience.
• Equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• Experience with Banner and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages financial and administrative operations for the Biochemistry department.
• Monitors fund balances, reconciles expenses, and prepares quarterly reports.
• Provides budgeting assistance and ensures compliance with funding regulations.
• Processes payments, purchases, and vendor relations using Banner, Concur, and PCard.
• Coordinates onboarding, hiring, and department communications.
