Job summary

The University of Utah is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the Accounting & Finance function for Sunnyside Apartments. The role reports to the Director of Sunnyside Apartments and works with campus partners to shape financial strategy, manage risk, and ensure effective financial operations across housing services.

The position supervises staff, balances hands-on accounting with people leadership, and emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration to support the university’s housing mission.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
• Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Member of Sunnyside Leadership Team and participate in department-wide planning, problem-solving, policy development, and operational decision‑making.
• Directly supervise employees, including hiring, onboarding, training, work assignment, performance evaluation, coaching, corrective action, and professional development.
• Collaborate across accounting, leasing, maintenance, and resident service functions to resolve issues and improve departmental processes.
• Monthly and Annual Profit & Loss statements.
• Monthly and Annual Balance Sheet reconciliation.
• Annual Operating & R&R Budgets, and Financial Reporting as required by Auxiliary Services, University CFO, Board of Trustees, and Board of Regents.
