We're partnering with a growing B2B SaaS business operating across the UK and US, developing technology that helps organisations manage governance, risk and compliance processes.
The business is looking to hire a Finance & Operations Manager to take ownership of its day-to-day financial operations while supporting important people and business administration processes.
The finance function has undergone significant improvements, with established processes and external accounting partners already in place.
The next step is to bring in someone who can independently manage these relationships, maintain accurate financial reporting and free up senior leadership to focus on financial planning, business performance and strategic initiatives.
This is a hands‑on position within a smaller, entrepreneurial business. It would suit an experienced Senior Accountant ready to take on broader responsibility, or an existing Finance Manager who enjoys remaining close to the detail.
What You'll Be Doing
- Take ownership of the monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals and financial reporting.
- Act as the main point of contact for external accountants, coordinating deliverables, reviewing their work and ensuring accounting deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support reporting requirements under UK GAAP.
- Manage end‑to‑end customer invoicing, including billing accuracy and associated financial administration.
- Oversee supplier invoices, expense management and purchase‑related financial processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Payroll & People Operations
- Coordinate payroll activities, ensuring employee compensation records are accurate and processed appropriately.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including the associated financial and administrative requirements.
- Maintain highly confidential employee information, including salary changes, payroll records and sensitive employment documentation.
- Support administrative processes relating to employee benefits, leave, compensation adjustments and terminations.
- Work closely with senior leadership on people‑related operational matters, particularly involving the US workforce.
Business Operations
- Help improve internal processes across finance and operations as the organisation develops.
- Coordinate with external providers and internal stakeholders to ensure operational tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Take ownership of recurring operational responsibilities, resolving issues independently and escalating appropriately.
- Contribute to a culture where accountability, discretion and attention to detail are essential.
What We're Looking For
- Proven hands‑on experience owning month‑end accounting processes, including reconciliations, journals and accruals.
- Practical knowledge of UK GAAP and experience supporting financial reporting under this framework.
- Experience managing customer invoicing, supplier invoices and expense processes.
- Previous responsibility for payroll administration and handling confidential employee or employment‑related information.
- Strong financial accounting fundamentals, with the ability to work independently and maintain accurate records.
- Demonstrable discretion and professionalism when managing sensitive information, with relevant experience that can be verified through references.
- A practical, adaptable approach and the willingness to take responsibility beyond a narrowly defined job description.
- Previous experience managing or working closely with external accounting firms.
- Experience within a B2B SaaS, technology or startup environment.
- Familiarity with US employment administration, payroll processes, employee benefits and HR operations.
- Experience working across UK and US financial or operational requirements.
- A recognised accounting qualification or progress towards one. Candidates with strong practical accounting experience who are part‑qualified will also be considered.
- Experience improving financial workflows, internal controls or administrative processes within a growing business.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of finance and operations within a business where your contribution will be visible to senior leadership.
You'll inherit an established financial foundation, work with external accounting partners and have the autonomy to improve how day‑to‑day processes operate.
The position offers a combination of financial accounting, payroll, people operations and wider business responsibility, making it particularly attractive to someone who enjoys variety and wants to develop beyond a traditional accounting role.
You'll need to be comfortable in a hands‑on startup environment, where priorities can change and occasional additional hours may be required around important deadlines.
