Job summary

The Lycée Français de San Francisco seeks a Finance and Operations Manager to lead the Business Office across three Bay Area campuses. You’ll own the full-cycle close, oversee GAAP-compliant accounting, and drive strong controls while guiding a small team and coordinating operations, security, transportation, and risk management.

Reporting to the CFOO, you’ll develop procedures, prepare reliable financial reports, and support budgeting and compliance in a nonprofit educational setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in finance and accounting, incl. ownership of a full-cycle close.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB, and nonprofit fund accounting, including restricted/unrestricted funds.
• Experience supervising, training, and developing accounting staff.
• Experience building processes and internal controls to improve accuracy and timeliness.
• Systems thinking to improve interconnections between accounting, operations, and compliance workflows.
• Regulatory agility to track evolving local, state, and federal compliance requirements for educational nonprofits.

Responsibilities

• Own the full-cycle monthly, quarterly, and year-end close with documented controls.
• Oversee day-to-day Business Office operations, AR/AP, and GL per GAAP and policies.
• Ensure expenses coded to correct GL accounts and approve entries.
• Track restricted vs unrestricted funds per donor intent and nonprofit standards.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Manage vendor payments, AP controls, and cash flow optimization.
• Lead automation of AP and other manual processes; drive efficiencies.
• Coach and develop Business Office staff across all campuses.
• Develop and document SOPs; train staff on procedures and systems.
• Produce timely monthly financial reports for CFOO, Board, managers.
