Job summary

City of Choctaw seeks an Assistant Finance Director to assist the Finance Director in all accounting and fiscal management areas. Responsibilities include managing the accounting cycle, budget preparation, annual audit coordination, and overseeing accounts payable and payroll.

Strong knowledge of governmental accounting, internal controls, and software like Incode 10 is preferred. The role requires supervisory responsibilities, professional judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively

Qualifications

• Two years or more of progressively responsible accounting experience, municipal setting preferred.
• Experience with payroll, accounts payable and utility billing is desirable.
• CPA or advanced degree strongly preferred; bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements and monthly close.
• Assist in developing and monitoring the city-wide budget and forecasts.
• Coordinate annual audit activities and GAAP reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable and payroll processing.
• Maintain internal controls and financial policies.
• Provide backup and training to staff as needed.
• Represent department in meetings and councils when required.
