Job summary

City of Alvarado seeks an experienced Finance Manager to oversee financial management, reporting, and accounting for operating and capital budgets. Responsibilities include cash management, grant accounting, and GASB compliance with strong internal controls.

You will supervise staff, interface with multiple City systems, and prepare financial statements while advising departments on procedures. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and accounting experience are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff, prioritizing and assigning work; coaching and providing feedback.
• Oversees, provides guidance, and is hands-on involved in processing financial transactions across City systems.
• Monitors and reports on revenues and expenditures; prepares monthly/quarterly/year-end statements.
• Oversees cash management and investments in accordance with policy; ensures liquidity and compliance.
• Maintains accounting structure and GASB compliance; updates chart of accounts as needed.
• Leads implementation of technology to improve processes and workflows.
• Implements and strengthens internal controls; supports fiscal policy implementation.
• Advises CFO and departments on financial procedures; assists in emergency management.
