Job description

Stop Killing Games is a global consumer-rights movement fighting the practice of publishers destroying video games that players have already purchased. When a publisher shuts down a game's servers and provides no way to keep it running, a product customers paid for stops existing. Our campaign has drawn support from over a million people worldwide and has pushed the issue onto the agenda of regulators and legislators in Europe and the United States. SKG Action, Inc. is the 501(c)(4) organization driving that work in the US, including advocacy for state and federal digital-ownership legislation. We are a small, fast-moving team with an unusually large and engaged community behind us.

About Stop Killing Games

The Role

We have the audience. We need someone to build the revenue engine that makes the campaign durable. This role owns every dollar SKG raises outside of institutional grants, globally, and has the freedom to build the systems from the ground up.

Merchandise. Own and grow our online store. Expand the product line, run drops and campaigns tied to organizing moments, manage global fulfillment and margins, and turn merch from a supporter perk into a reliable revenue line.

Membership. Design and launch a recurring-giving membership program for our community. Set the tier structure and benefits, build the onboarding and retention flows, and grow monthly recurring revenue.

Sponsorships. Identify, pitch, and close high-dollar sponsorships and institutional partnerships. Manage the full cycle from prospect research through negotiation, activation, and renewal.

New revenue. Pursue additional revenue wherever it exists: creator-driven fundraising, events and livestream fundraisers, licensing, affiliate and platform partnerships, and major individual gifts.

Infrastructure and reporting. Own the fundraising stack (payments, CRM, donor data), maintain accurate forecasting, and report results to leadership on a regular cadence.

Performance Targets (4 months)
  • Authored, reviewed, and finalized promotional documents for fundraising audiences
  • A target list of at least 80 high-net-worth or institutional philanthropic targets
  • Meetings with at least 20 high-net-worth or institutional philanthropic prospects
  • Development of a core group of at least 5 interested high-net-worth or institutional philanthropic funders
  • At least $50,000 raised from high-net-worth or institutional philanthropic funders
  • Finalize and launch dues-paying membership program
  • Weekly and monthly fundraising reports
What We're Looking For
  • Demonstrated record of generating revenue, whether in nonprofit development, ecommerce, creator monetization, sponsorship sales, or membership growth
  • Comfort operating in a small organization with limited process and high autonomy
  • Fluency in the games and creator ecosystem, or genuine curiosity about it and the ability to get up to speed fast
  • Strong written communication and the ability to make a persuasive ask
  • Working knowledge of ecommerce and donation tooling, and the analytical habits to make decisions from the numbers
  • Ability to collaborate across time zones with a distributed international team

Nonprofit fundraising credentials are welcome but not required. We care more about whether you have raised money and grown revenue than where you did it.
