Job summary

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington, DC is seeking a Finance Manager to lead accounting operations, internal controls, and financial reporting. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, you will supervise staff and manage the outsourced accounting vendor to ensure accurate, timely, and well‑documented financial workflows.

You will lead month‑end close, prepare financial statements, monitor cash flow, and oversee grant accounting and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 6 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit accounting operations, month‑end close, internal controls, audit support, and financial reporting.
• At least 2 years of experience supervising staff and/or managing outsourced accounting, audit, or vendor relationships.
• Proven experience working in a nonprofit organization with a budget of $15M+; experience with fund accounting, restricted revenue, grant‑related financial reporting, and nonprofit compliance is required.
• Advanced proficiency with nonprofit accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct, and strong Excel skills required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions with accurate coding and timely vendor payments.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes with reconciliations and schedules.
• Oversee restricted funds, grants, and program tracking for audit readiness and funder reporting.
• Serve as lead liaison for the annual independent financial audit and regulatory compliance.
• Manage vendor relationships and develop standard operating procedures for continuity.
