Job summary

KNM Resources in New York invites an experienced investment accounting professional with 8–15 years in funds, hedge funds, or related financial services to join a newly created, highly visible role. You will lead complex trading-portfolio accounting and monthly/quarterly reporting, applying GAAP and IFRS, and provide risk analytics and process improvements using Excel and BI tools.

CPA is preferred; the ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong communication and cross-team

Qualifications

• 8–15 years of investment accounting experience in funds or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS applicable to hedge funds.
• Experience with commodities or fixed income investments preferred.
• Propensity to improve processes and workflows.
• CPA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and reporting responsibilities for complex trading strategies.
• Provide expert operational oversight of an expansive investment portfolio.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Provide valuable insight into the current financial environment, including performing analytics on risk, to evaluate potential effect on valuations
• Lead process improvements geared towards efficient workflows, leveraging AI and other tools for streamlining.
• Ensure a compliance with GAAP and IFRS
• Collaborate across key verticals, including PM, Trading and other teams to provide accounting expertise which will facilitate sound decisions.
• Serve as liaison with external auditors
• Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Accounting or Finance or similar
• 8 to 15 years of investment accounting experience - either directly for a fund, with the Big 4 and financial services clients, or a combination of both
• Experience with a variety of financial products
• Solid understanding of accounting principles as it relates to hedge funds
• Experience with commodities and / or fixed income-related investments preferred
• CPA preferred
• Proven ability to improve processes and workflows.
• Advanced Excel and Tableau or Power BI a plus
