About the Finance Manager Role

This position reports directly to the Director of Finance who provides general direction and guidance and reviews specific work product. This position works with minimal supervision and has custodial responsibility for all funds being received or expended by the firm. Primary responsibilities include day-to-day oversight and management of Finance Department personnel and control and maintenance of the firm’s financial and time and billing systems.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for range of crucial accounting functions including month and year end process, AP/AR, cash receipts, and billing. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance, maintaining internal controls and driving operational efficiency and financial integrity.
  • Develop, train, and motivate members of the Finance team.
  • Assure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports.
  • Analyze systems, workflows, and efficiencies; assess and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and implement necessary department procedures and policies.
  • Provide insightful and timely information to assist senior management with tactical and strategic business initiatives.
  • Provide in-office supervision of the finance team.
Qualifications
  • A four-year degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management.
  • 8-10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience ideal but not required, preferably in a professional services organization.
  • Comprehensive understanding and proven track record of implementing effective financial controls to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
  • Detail oriented with a proven record of driving results, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superb analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to interpret financial data, identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate tasks effectively and foster a positive work environment.
  • Superior proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software as well as advanced technical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that provide the ability to interact with all levels of the organization with a high customer service orientation; utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work “hands-on”.
  • Significant experience with budgeting and forecasting.
