Job description

Kalypso Offshore is seeking a Finance Manager to take hands-on ownership of the day-to-day finances of a fast-growing subsea cable services business. Operating from our base at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in New York, we deliver cable installation, maintenance, and repair services to the offshore wind and telecommunications sectors across the United States and Europe. This is a broad, practical role for someone who wants to build a finance function rather than inherit one.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day finances of the business, including bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, payroll coordination, and month-end close.

Own cash flow forecasting and working capital management in a project-driven business with long payment cycles.

Track project costs, margins, and commercial performance across live projects, and report on variances.

Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and monthly management accounts.

Administer banking arrangements, letters of credit, and performance bonds, liaising with our banks and brokers.

Prepare financial inputs for tenders, framework agreements, and grant applications.

Manage contractor and supplier invoicing, and ensure accurate cost allocation to projects.

Maintain financial controls, processes, and record keeping appropriate to a growing organization.

Ensure compliance with US tax, accounting, and statutory reporting obligations.

Work with our external accountants and auditors to support year-end reporting and audit.

Join Kalypso Offshore as our Finance Manager and build the financial engine of a company scaling rapidly in the offshore renewables and subsea cable sector.

Requirements

Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; part-qualified or qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, or CIMA) is advantageous.

Around five years' experience in a hands-on finance role, ideally within a project-based business such as offshore energy, marine, engineering, or construction.

Practical experience of project cost tracking, job costing, and margin reporting.

Strong working knowledge of accounting software and advanced spreadsheet skills.

Experience of cash flow forecasting and working capital management.

Familiarity with letters of credit, performance bonds, or other trade finance instruments is an advantage.

Comfortable working independently in a small team and building processes from the ground up.

Meticulous attention to detail combined with sound commercial judgment.

Clear communicator, able to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues.
