Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting and/or payroll experience in healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll regulations, payroll taxes, and wage/hour laws.
• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support.
• Advanced Excel and Office applications; experience with HRIS/payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and annual financial close processes with balance sheets and income statements.
• Oversee all accounts payable and receivable activities; ensure timely processing.
• Perform and review reconciliations of bank accounts and GL accounts.
• Partner with CFO on annual budgeting and ongoing financial planning.
• Coordinate internal and external audits; prepare supporting documentation.
• Manage bi-weekly payroll processing for all employees; ensure data integrity.
• Administer payroll/timekeeping systems; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor compliance with federal/state/local payroll regulations.
• Prepare payroll reports for management and regulatory agencies.
• Serve as point of contact for payroll inquiries and issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain accounting/payroll policies and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency via process improvements and automation.
• Collaborate with HR and department leadership on payroll, compensation, and reporting.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, and patient information.

Job Description

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the hospital's accounting and payroll functions, including financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting support, payroll administration, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This individual serves as a key business partner to hospital leadership and collaborates closely with Human Resources on compensation, benefits, and payroll-related matters. The Finance Manager acts as a trusted resource for staff and plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health and operational effectiveness of the organization.

Salary

$100,000-130,000 | Competitive compensation package based on experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and annual financial close processes, including preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee all accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Perform and review reconciliations of bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
• Partner with the CFO in the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial planning activities.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and prepare required supporting documentation.
• Manage the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for all employees.
• Administer payroll and timekeeping systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Prepare payroll-related reports for management and regulatory agencies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and issue resolution.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting and payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process enhancements and automation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Human Resources and department leadership on payroll, compensation, and reporting matters.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, employee, and patient information.
• Support organizational compliance, safety initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3+ years of accounting and/or payroll experience within a healthcare environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll regulations, payroll taxes, and wage and hour laws.
• Experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and audit support.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using payroll, accounting, and HRIS systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements and patient confidentiality standards.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous supervisory or people leadership experience.
• Experience with Paycom HRIS.
• Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) or rural healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of CAH regulations, reimbursement structures, and rural healthcare challenges.
• Experience developing and implementing process improvements and internal controls.
