Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• 2+ years supervising staff or owning the close.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close and bank reconciliations.

• Build and monitor the annual budget with variance reporting.

Riverside Military Academy, a college preparatory boarding school for young men in grades 7 through 12, is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to strengthen and modernize its finance office during a period of new ownership, investment, and growth. This is a builder's role. The right candidate will have a clear path to Director of Finance, based on performance.

What you'll do

• Own the monthly close, bank reconciliations, and accurate monthly financial statements
• Manage tuition billing, collections, and student accounts, including financial aid and scholarship tracking
• Oversee accounts payable, purchasing controls, and payroll coordination
• Build and monitor the annual budget, with variance reporting to leadership and the Board
• Prepare for and support the annual audit and tax filings
• Strengthen internal controls, approval workflows, and cash management
• Develop cash flow forecasts and reporting for capital projects and new programs

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA or CMA strongly preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 2 years supervising staff or owning the close
• Experience in independent schools, nonprofits, or multi-entity organizations is a plus
• Strong command of GAAP, internal controls, and audit preparation
• Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud, or similar) and advanced Excel
• Integrity, discretion, and the ability to explain numbers clearly to non-finance leaders.
