Job summary

Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnering with a West Michigan manufacturer to hire a Finance Manager who will lead accounting and financial operations, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting and financial analysis. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive performance while supporting operations.

You will partner with plant leadership to control costs, improve processes, and ensure GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Progressive accounting/finance experience in manufacturing.
• Strong cost accounting background with standard costing and variance analysis.
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close.
• Experience leading accounting/finance personnel.
• Understanding of inventory costing and manufacturing operations.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial operations, ensuring timely financial reporting.
• Lead month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, and statements.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Oversee cost accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Analyze profitability, margins, and manufacturing costs.
• Partner with operations to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Support product costing, pricing analysis, and CAPEX evaluations.
• Monitor working capital, inventory, and cash flow.

Adecco Permanent Recruitment is working with an established manufacturing organization in West Michigan looking to add an experienced Finance Manager to its leadership team.

This position will oversee accounting and financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial analysis. The role will work closely with operations and senior leadership to help drive financial performance and improve business processes.

We're looking for someone with a strong manufacturing finance background who is comfortable leading a team while remaining hands-on with the day-to-day financial activities of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Manage month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations and financial statements.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Analyze financial performance, profitability, margins, and manufacturing costs.
• Partner with operations and plant leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve financial performance.
• Support product costing, pricing analysis, and capital expenditure evaluations.
• Monitor working capital, inventory, and cash flow.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting and finance team members.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong manufacturing cost accounting background, including standard costing and variance analysis.
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close.
• Previous experience leading or supervising accounting and finance personnel.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost analysis, and manufacturing operations.
• Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to communicate financial results and recommendations to senior leadership.
• CPA or CMA preferred, but not required.

Ideal Candidate

We're interested in candidates currently working as a Finance Manager, Plant Controller, Accounting Manager, Cost Accounting Manager, or in a similar manufacturing finance leadership position.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong technical accounting skills, manufacturing cost accounting experience, and the ability to partner with operations to drive business performance.

This position supports manufacturing operations across multiple locations in West Michigan and requires regular on-site presence.
