Job summary

Ameriprise Financial is seeking a Finance Leadership Development Program Associate in the United States. The two-year program offers three 8-month rotations across Accounting, Finance, and related business areas, with real-world experience and exposure to executive leadership.

You will perform cost-benefit analyses, analyze P&L and balance sheet items, forecast expenses and revenues, and participate in audits to strengthen controls. A senior-year student in finance/economics is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Senior at a 4-year university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics or related field.
  • Graduation date of December 2026 or May/June 2027.
  • Commitment to complete the full 24-month Leadership Development Program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost benefit analyses to determine expected benefits of new products or programs.
  • Analyze profit and loss statements and recommend solutions to grow revenues and manage expenses.
  • Balance sheet management, due diligence, and process re engineering.

About the Role:
Over 24 months, you’ll dive into three dynamic 8-month rotations that will give you real-world experience in key areas like:

  • Accounting/tax/audit – learn the steps to reach the bottom line
  • Finance – create decision support-based analytics for business partners
  • Utility – blend both your finance and accounting skills on business projects that involve our internal service providers and business processes (ex: procurement, risk, treasury, real estate, business planning and analysis)

After exploring the breadth of the business unit(s) through each rotation, LDPs have the opportunity to post to a permanent position within Ameriprise Financial.

How you’ll spend your time…

  • Prepare a cost benefit analysis to determine expected benefits of a new product or program
  • Analyze profit and loss statements and recommend solutions to grow revenues and manage expenses
  • Balance sheet management, due diligence, and process re-engineering
  • Prepare expense and revenue forecasts and analyze trends and variances from plan and prior forecasts
  • Work with a team conducting an audit and testing controls of a business process
  • Evaluate business risks and opportunities to mitigate risk
  • Assist with the creation of a cash flow spreadsheet for purposes of dividend planning
  • Perform analysis of taxable income from investments, variance analysis and year over year trends

Examples of past LDP projects include:

  • Build and maintain financial models to drive critical initiatives. Worked with key partners from finance and the business to build documentation and present to leaders.
  • Worked with teams across the Finance Business Unit to assist with implementing new software for the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Senior at a 4-year university pursing a bachelor’s degree Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics, or related field
  • Graduation date of December 2026 or May/June 2027
  • Commitment to complete the full 24-month Leadership Development Program

The estimated base salary for this role is $73,000. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
