Job summary

Lava Island, based in Denver, seeks a hands-on controller to lead the accounting for two growing entities. You’ll manage the monthly close, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions, while partnering with leadership to build scalable controls and processes.

You’ll work with Procore and QuickBooks, oversee job costing and production accounting, and drive accurate financial reporting that ties to park builds and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Approximately five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Experience with month-end close, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Comfort working independently and carrying problems through to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements for both companies.
• Keep balance sheet reconciliations current and resolve discrepancies.
• Support tax, audit, insurance, and banking requests alongside the CFO.
• Review park build budgets, track actual costs, and keep job costing accurate by project.
• Review subcontractor pay applications, lien waivers, manage retainage, and prepare owner pay applications.
• Account for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and cost of goods sold; support product costing.
• Manage cash flow and payment timing across both companies; coordinate payments and intercompany accounting.
