Job summary

Wood Canada Ltd. in Houston, TX is seeking a Finance Lead to head the Onshore Projects finance and accounting team, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager. You will lead a small accounting team and own month-end close and project financials.

You will partner with Project Controls, Project Managers, auditors and business leadership to ensure accurate financial information, proper revenue recognition, and strong internal controls across complex engineering and oil and gas projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field.
• Professional qualification in Accounting (CA) required; CPA or CMA designation an asset
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with full-cycle accounting in engineering or oil/gas projects
• Experience with ERP systems, including Oracle and EPM/FCC
• Strong Excel skills with pivots and VLOOKUPs
• Solid understanding of project accounting, revenue recognition and financial reporting
• Excellent time-management and ability to meet month-end deadlines
• Strong written/verbal English communication

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Finance focal point for Onshore Projects and lead a small team of accountants
• Lead month-end close including revenue and cost accruals, margin analysis, reconciliations, and month-end packages
• Review commercial agreements, rates, and approvals to ensure proper accounting
• Provide project accounting support during kick-off and monthly reviews
• Collaborate with Project Controls to structure contracts for revenue recognition and milestones
• Review project costs and accrue missing costs to protect margins
• Assess variation orders and account for them based on status and likelihood of award
• Ensure revenue recognition and billing milestones align with project needs
• Maintain visibility of project costs, pass-through costs, unbilled amounts, and billing activities
• Perform margin analysis including cost vs sell rate and mix/volume variance
• Prepare full-project forecasts through completion and compare with as-sold position
• Perform contingency analyses and reflect releases or increases in accounting
• Prepare budgets and forecasts for assigned service lines
• Lead audits with internal/external teams
