Job summary

StandardAero is offering a 10–12 week paid Finance Intern role in Scottsdale, AZ. You will support general accounting, assist with month-end close, and help prepare financial reports while learning from seasoned professionals in a global aerospace company.

You will work with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to analyze data, build financial models, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts.

Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Familiarity with basic accounting software or accounting spreadsheets
  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and delivery
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and able to work under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Assist with journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts at month end close
  • Prepare sales and gross margin reports by customer and product line statements
  • Assist with annual operating plan schedules as needed
  • Assist in preparing various reports and summaries
  • Support data collection to ensure adherence to company policies
  • Perform filing and general administrative tasks
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Prepare and support development of management reports and dashboards
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify risks and opportunities
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate performance and drivers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand drivers and improve reporting
  • Support FP&A process improvements and ad-hoc analyses

As a Finance Intern at StandardAero, you will gain hands-on industry experience, learn from experts, and collaborate with our teams that raise the standard of excellence. This individual will support our Scottsdale headquarters with process improvement, day-to-day general clerical, accounting, and bookkeeping functions to facilitate successful financial processes and ensure continuity of operations. Additionally, you’ll partner with finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making while gaining exposure to financial systems, tools and best practices used in a global organization.

This is a 10–12-week, paid internship and part-time basis.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with various general accounting activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts at month end close
  • Assist with various financial data and reports, including sales and gross margin reports by customer and product line financial statements
  • Assist with annual operating plan schedules as needed
  • Assist in various other reports and summaries as needed
  • Assist with data collection as assigned to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Performs filing and general administrative tasks
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Prepare and support development of: Management Reports, Dashboards, and Executive-level presentation
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate: Business Performance, Trends & Key Drivers, Strategic Drivers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (commercial, operations, accounting, program management) to: Understand business drivers, Support leadership decision-making, and improve financial processes and reporting efficiency
  • Support process improvement and automation initiatives within FP&A.
  • Participate in ad-hoc financial analysis and strategic projects.
  • Performs other related duties as required
Position Requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Graduate/Masters degree students can be considered as well.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Familiarity with basic accounting software or accounting spreadsheets
  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written format
  • Strong planning and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and a focus on delivery
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and flexible
  • Works well under pressure and adheres to tight deadlines
  • Ability to sit for long periods
  • Ability to view computer monitor for long periods
Preferred Characteristics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, primarily Excel
  • Familiar with Power BI, Oracle systems, or other ERP's (SAP)
