Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Carlsbad, CA, seeks an FP&A analyst to partner with R&D leadership and support budgeting, reporting, and decision support. The role focuses on forecasting, consolidation, and improving visibility into expenditures and investments.

You'll work within the CSD of the Life Sciences Group, leveraging dashboard tools and collaborating with Digital Finance to modernize finance processes and deliver actionable insights for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 2+ years of FP&A, finance, accounting, or analytical experience.
• Strong analytical, modeling, and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with financial systems and large data sets.
• Experience with forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis.
• Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
• Experience with Hyperion, HFM, PLN, SAP, Power BI, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Manage the $90M CSD R&D OpEx budget and partner with R&D leadership to identify risks and opportunities.
• Develop the Annual Operating Plan and Roadmap for senior leadership reviews.
• Support monthly PV2 reporting and update R&D financials in MBR/QBR materials.
• Partner cross‑functionally to support decisions moving products from concept to launch.
• Review CapEx actuals, forecasts, and ensure accounting compliance and spend approvals.
• Coordinate with Accounting & Finance centers to manage capital and operating expenditures.
• Lead MBR/QBR financial consolidation, including revenue and Organic Growth splits.
• Provide ad hoc analysis on margins, OpEx drivers, and cost-center changes.
• Use automation and AI tools to improve reporting and forecasting.
