Job summary

Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, VT seeks a Director of Finance to lead all financial operations, budgeting, and strategic planning. You will oversee accounting, FP&A, treasury, and risk management, reporting to the Director & CEO while guiding a small finance team.

The role emphasizes partnership with the CEO and Board, ensuring GAAP compliance and robust internal controls in a multi-department setting.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years of non-profit accounting experience.
• BS in accounting or related field.
• CPA, CMA or MBA strongly preferred.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Background in non-profit accounting preferred.
• Strong analytical capabilities including financial planning, forecasting and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Museum's senior financial leader, partnering with the CEO and Board to develop financial strategies.
• Lead budgeting, multi-year planning, and long-term forecasting across departments.
• Oversee accounting, FP&A, treasury, investments, payroll and contract oversight.
• Ensure timely financial reporting, KPIs, and variance analysis.
• Manage liquidity, endowments, and risk management.
• Oversee audit, tax, compliance, and internal controls.
