Job summary

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Director of Finance to lead the Michigan BU and coordinate financial strategy for the Midwest Division. You will guide budgeting, grants, and reporting, ensuring GAAP compliance and strong financial controls across programs.

You will work with the Operations and Conservation teams, report to the DFD, and support staff while aligning with donor intents and organizational policy. This is a high-impact leadership role in a large conservation nonprofit.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong leadership and advisory capabilities to executive and BOT level.
• Experience managing data, budgets, and staff for financial health.

Responsibilities

• Lead finance strategy for the Michigan BU and support the Midwest Division.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and TNC policies across programs.
• Oversee budgeting, grant management, and reporting to funders and leadership.
• Collaborate with Operations and Conservation teams on day-to-day financial activities.
• Provide forecasts, financial controls, and long-term sustainability insights.
• Travel and flexible hours as needed.
