Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker’s SEF division in Linden, Germany, Hybrid, seeks a Finance Director, Product & Engineering (m/f/d) to drive profitability for product lines and lead financial planning in a global, matrixed environment.

You will partner with Product Management and Engineering leadership, manage P&L, evaluate investments, and guide resource allocation to align with strategic priorities, while developing KPIs and governance for performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related degree.
• 10+ years of relevant financial work experience focusing on product development and engineering strategy.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to develop and maintain financial models.
• Experience in strategic planning and execution, plus critical thinking and communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving and process improvement capabilities.
• Strong cross functional leadership in a matrixed, international environment.
• High business acumen and collaboration with functional and business leaders.
• Ability to quickly assess operational efficiency and prioritize improvements.
• Fluent German and English skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead finance business partner to Product and Engineering leadership, linking strategy to financial plans and performance actions.
• Support the full product line P&L, including revenue, margin, operating income, and profitability drivers.
• Partner on portfolio decisions, product line performance, and actions to improve growth and returns including cost-out governance.
• Evaluate new product development and engineering investments through business cases, return analysis, and scenario modeling.
• Support engineering productivity and resource allocation to align investment with strategic priorities.
• Lead the Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan and forecast processes for Product and Engineering.
• Provide financial leadership for SG&A and CAPEX planning tied to product and engineering priorities.
• Develop KPIs and decision support that improve visibility to performance, investment effectiveness and execution.
• Partner with FP&A and cross-functional leaders to connect product, engineering, and business performance.
• Build organizational capability over time, including future team leadership as business needs evolve.
