Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the financial operations of a hotel in the Virginia/DC area. This role partners with the General Manager and ownership to drive strong financial performance, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key duties include overseeing accounting, payroll (ADP), monthly statements, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, cost controls with operational leaders, and clear communication of results to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership with strong communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of hotel operations and financial systems.
• Experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership and direction for the property.
• Oversee all accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger.
• Ensure accurate and timely ADP payroll processing and compliance.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including balance sheet reconciliations.
• Lead profit and loss analysis, identifying trends and opportunities to improve performance.
• Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts in partnership with department leaders.
• Ensure full compliance with tax reporting, audits, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies.
• Partner with operational leaders to drive cost controls and maximize profitability.
• Communicate financial performance clearly to senior leadership and ownership.
