Job summary

Roots Community Health seeks a Director of Finance to lead all fiscal operations, grant/contract accounting, payroll, and financial reporting. This role partners across programs, Administration, HR, and leadership to maintain strong internal controls and timely financial processes.

You will translate complex clinical revenue, Medi-Cal billing, and philanthropic support into actionable insights, mentor staff, and drive strategic financial planning to support mission-driven services in Oakland.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive financial management experience.
• Experience in nonprofit fund accounting and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting and financial operations.
• Lead payroll processing and tax filings.
• Generate timely grant/contract reporting.
• Develop internal controls and workflows.
• Mentor finance staff.
