Job summary

Ascot Group, a leading specialty risk underwriting organization, seeks a Data Engineer to join the Data Integration & Delivery Team in a hybrid, Stamford-based setting. You will analyze, develop, implement, test, and support data warehouse projects such as Phinsys and the Data & Integration Hub, with on-site presence required for hybrid work.

The role demands 2+ years in data analytics/engineering, strong SQL, ETL tool experience (SSIS, Informatica, ADF), and familiarity with insurance data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, data analytics, or related field.
• 2+ years as a Data Analyst/Engineer on a large data warehouse.
• Experience with ETL tools: SSIS, Informatica, ADF.
• Desirable: experience in commercial or specialty insurance.
• Understanding of financial data concepts.
• Proven SQL skills and ability to identify data issues.
• Knowledge of SQL Server or Synapse architecture.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Data Engineer Level 1 for projects, enhancements, and production support.
• Perform analysis and support of assigned projects, including hands-on development.
• Assist in establishing work estimates based on business requirements.
• Contribute to high/low level designs and technical specifications.
• Validate accuracy/quality of data integrations from ETL specifications.
• Assist with design, development and testing for complex data work.
• Coordinate/lead production implementations for quality releases.
• Deliver new warehouse sources/tables/marts leveraging company standards.
• Coordinate Ascot and Vendor resources for high quality deliverables.
• Identify inefficiencies and streamline work creatively.
• Report technical/organizational roadblocks.
