Job summary

The Veterans Canteen Service - Central Office at Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO is recruiting a Supervisory Accountant to support the Finance Center's day-to-day operations.

You will report to a Finance Manager and provide technical accounting guidance, oversee staff, and help ensure timely financial reporting and close activities. Qualified candidates have accounting education and experience as outlined in the qualification requirements; agency resumes must be 2 pages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 24 semester hours in accounting (up to 6 hours may be business law).
• Combination of Education and Professional Accounting Experience: at least four (4) years of accounting-related experience with one of the following: 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing, CPA or CIA certification, or equivalent accounting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing and reconciling financial accounts and transactions.
• Preparing financial reports and supporting year-end closeout activities.
• Maintaining and utilizing automated accounting systems.
• Developing or improving accounting procedures and processes.
• Establishing work priorities and managing deadlines.
• Providing technical guidance and supervisory oversight to staff.
