Job summary

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square seeks a Director of Finance & Business Support to lead the accounting department and drive financial reporting, controls, and performance across the property.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will recruit and develop a high-performing team, ensure accurate month-end close, and collaborate on budgets, forecasts and strategic plans within a luxury hotel context.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
• Professional designation or degree with specialization in Accounting or enrolled in a recognized accounting program.
• Minimum of 3 years hotel accounting experience at a senior level.
• Proven leadership and coaching skills to develop a motivated team.
• Familiarity with hotel systems and software including GFS/SUN, OneStream, Office, Opera.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day to day operations of accounting department.
• Develop an engaged, service driven team of accounting professionals.
• Recruit, develop and motivate the accounting group.
• Assist in preparing financial statements per policy and SOX regulations.
• Interpret and analyze revenue, payroll and expenses for departments.
• Represent the accounting office in meetings with leadership and ownership.
• Maintain accounts and controls for accurate reports and statements.
• Ensure clean internal and external audit reports.
• Post journal entries and complete month-end processes.
• Monitor month-end reconciliations and analyses.
• Lead annual operating & capital budgets and forecasts.
• Coordinate timely management reports and ensure system integration.
