Job summary

AVRL is hiring an early-career Business Operations Associate to learn the business from the ground up. You will own day-to-day operations including contracts, renewals, invoicing, and financial oversight, with a path to lead an associate and expand into strategy and compliance.

You'll build SOPs, manage documents, and support audits while collaborating with senior leaders on operations and tech strategy.

AVRL is one of the most well-known freight technology companies in the US market. We help 3PLs and truck brokerages scale their operations through automated pricing models and high-level advisory. About the Role

We're hiring a Business Operations Associate who wants to learn how to run a business from the ground up.

You'll own the day-to-day work that keeps AVRL running: customer contracts and renewals, invoicing, company documentation and SOPs, and oversight of our finances. We have a bookkeeper who handles the ledger; you'll be the person who checks the numbers make sense, turns them into a quarterly P&L for leadership, and keeps us current on sales tax and filings.

As you master that foundation, you'll take on more operations: designing how we monitor sales and renewals, shaping operational and technology strategy, and building our compliance program. We plan to bring on an associate for you to train and manage, so you can hand off execution and step into a more senior operations role.

This is an early-career role, roughly 2-4 years in, for someone who is organized, comfortable with numbers, writes things down, and is coachable: you learn how we do things first, take feedback well, and earn the right to change processes by understanding them.

No freight or logistics experience needed. We'll teach you the industry.

What You'll Do

• Manage NDAs and contract redlines on behalf of AVRL, working with legal to refine terms and flag risks
• Create and send SaaS contracts; learn to interpret our master agreements and statements of work
• Contact customers ahead of renewals and keep accounts in-term, renewing on time and paying on time

Operations & documentation

• Build and standardize SOPs in a single, interlinked company library, and test that the flows work
• Manage, control, and archive company documents
• Monitor our ticketing system daily and elevate emerging issues
• Perform internal audits of our processes and support the external auditor on certification

Finance oversight

• Manage the invoicing system
• Review the books monthly and produce a quarterly P&L and performance summary for leadership
• Handle sales tax and routine statutory filings; coordinate with our outside accountants at year-end
• Manage international vendor payments and renewals
• Design how we manage and monitor sales and renewals
• Contribute to operational, messaging, and technology strategy alongside senior operations leaders
• Hire, train, and manage an associate, using the SOPs you've built to hand off day-to-day execution

What We're Looking For

• 2-4 years in business operations, finance, or a similar generalist role at a small company
• Comfortable reading financial statements and able to put together a simple P&L
• Some exposure to sales tax or working with outside accountants
• Experience writing process documentation or SOPs that other people use
• Strong attention to detail and comfort with logical complexity
• A bias to action: you resolve issues quickly and don't wait to be told twice
• Coachable and low-ego: you listen, take direction well, and see hands-on work as how you learn the business
• Strong written and spoken communication

Preferred

• MBA (completed or in progress) or a finance/accounting degree
• Software/SaaS experience, especially contracts, billing, or renewals
• Experience with QuickBooks, a CRM, or a contract/billing system
