Job summary

SCA Health, part of Optum, is seeking a Financial Operations Analyst to drive budgeting, forecasting and reporting for our network of ambulatory surgical centers. You’ll build models, analyze performance and present insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business with Finance/Economics/Accounting focus.
  • 3–5 years of experience preferred.
  • Highly analytical, a critical thinker with strong decision-making skills.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Strong communication and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly and quarterly results for facility performance vs budget and forecast, providing insights.
  • Drive decision making using analytics to support Finance Operations and Operations teams.
  • Generate standard monthly operating/financial reports and participate in review calls with senior leaders.
  • Assemble presentations for quarterly board meetings.
  • Build financial models and projections for transactions with physician investors or potential mergers.
  • Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting with senior leadership support.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders to drive efficient processes and results.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support key initiatives for financial performance.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly results regarding facility performance vs budget, forecast, and prior periods; provide thoughtful insight and recommendations on the business’ trajectory
  • Drive decision making using analytics (e.g. contribution margin, cash generation, benchmarking, other ad hoc requests) to support initiatives of the Financial Operations and Operations team
  • Generate standard monthly operating/financial reports and actively participate on monthly review calls with VP Operations, Finance Lead and Group President
  • Assemble presentations for quarterly surgery center and joint venture board meetings
  • Build financial models and projections for transactions with new physician investors and potential mergers
  • Work with VP Operations and Director Financial Operations to lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes and assist in presentation to senior leadership
  • Communicate effectively and engage with senior leadership of various external stakeholders to drive efficient processes that deliver optimum results
  • Frequently engage and collaborate with senior leadership in supporting implementation of key initiatives to improve financial performance
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business field required - Finance/Economics/Accounting
  • 3-5 years of experience preferred
  • Qualified candidate will be highly analytical, a critical thinker, intellectually curious, with decision making skills
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and familiarity with financial statements/reporting
  • Ability to digest financial information, render judgment, create context, and recognize patterns
  • Consistently meets deadlines, maintain attention to detail, and manage conflicting priorities
  • Ability to self-start, problem solve and present opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Very proficient to expert level using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
