Job description

Kimmeridge is an alternative asset manager focused on the energy industry. Through its flagship private funds, public equity investments, and carbon investments, the firm aims to deliver reliable, low-cost energy with no net carbon footprint. Unlike traditional private equity firms, Kimmeridge invests directly in energy assets, leveraging in-house expertise in innovation, geological evaluation, land acquisition, and engineering. Founded in 2012, the firm is based in New York and Denver.

This position will be responsible for management and support of all tax matters at Kimmeridge, including portfolio companies, Funds, and Kimmeridge partners, in collaboration with third-party advisors and the Kimmeridge Finance team. The role involves working directly with portfolio companies, Fund managers, and Kimmeridge Partners on tax issues, reporting to the Head of Tax. It offers a unique tax experience with insights into management decisions and initiatives.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage tax partnership workpapers, allocations, and filings for portfolio companies, private equity funds, general partnerships, management companies, and high-net-worth individuals.
  2. Prepare and manage tax projections and planning for private equity funds and management companies.
  3. Prepare and present quarterly reports for Kimmeridge Partners, providing guidance and insights on tax payments.
  4. Identify and implement tax planning opportunities for Kimmeridge Partners.
  5. Manage tax payments and filings for all Kimmeridge entities and Partners, in collaboration with third-party tax advisors.
  6. Monitor changes in tax law and evaluate opportunities in collaboration with the investment, finance, and legal teams.
  7. Support finance team initiatives and workstreams.
Skills and Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, law, or related field.
  2. CPA license (or equivalent) required.
  3. At least 3 years of investment management or financial services partnership taxation experience.
  4. Experience with individual taxation is a plus.
  5. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
  6. Availability and willingness to work in the office 5 days a week.
  7. Proactive attitude with problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  8. Thorough understanding of private equity fund waterfalls.
  9. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Effective project management skills to meet deadlines.
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
