Job Description
TheFinance and Membership Assistantprovides financial, membership, and administrative support to the church office. The primary focus of this position is toassist the finance team with routine financial and contribution-related responsibilities, while also maintaining accurate membership records and supporting the day-to-day operations of the church office. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable handling confidential financial and personal information. Excellent communication skills, a welcoming spirit, and a commitment to serving the church with professionalism and a Christ-centered attitude are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Finance & Contributions
- Assist the finance team withroutine bookkeeping and accounts receivable tasks.
- Assist with processing and accurately recording member contributions and other financial gifts.
- Assist contributors with giving methods and questions related to their contribution records.
- Process commitment cards and assist with maintaining accurate pledged-giving records.
- Assist with preparing and distributing contribution statements.
- Record and provide acknowledgments for memorial gifts.
- Serve as liaison with bank couriers and assist with banking-related administrative responsibilities as directed.
- Assist the finance team with financial documentation, recordkeeping, reconciliation, and other routine financial tasks.
- Maintain organized and confidential financial records, both digital and hard copy.
- Provide additional administrative support to the finance team as needed.
Membership & Church Records
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date church membership records.
- Maintain accurate hard-copy and digital church records.
- Assist members and visitors with questions and requests related to church records and membership.
- Conduct background checks as required.
Office & Administrative Support
- Provide general administrative support for the church office.
- Oversee routine office functions, including phones, mail, and office supplies.
- Maintain the internal staff calendar as well as external events and group calendars.
- Assist with facility reservations and requests.
- Greet and assist visitors, members, and vendors in a welcoming and professional manner.
- Assist with coordinating church volunteers to support ministry operations.
- Assist with outreach and communication to church and community members.
Education and Experience
- Two years of accounting and office experience is preferred
- A college degree is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required, with the ability to learn new software as needed.
- The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, and able to maintain confidentiality while demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
