Job summary

Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc. (VTF) is seeking a Finance Analyst to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting across operating funds and restricted activities.

Reporting to the Managing Director of Finance, you will prepare budget-to-actual analyses, monitor fund activity, and assist Treasury with cash forecasting and notes receivable. A Bachelor's degree and 1–3 years of experience are preferred; strong Excel skills and data accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• 1–3 years in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting support.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with forecasting tools or treasury platforms.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled tools for automation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Support annual budget and forecast processes with templates and data.
• Monitor operating budget activity and prepare reports.
• Prepare budget-to-actual reports and variance analysis.
• Research variances using transaction data and historical trends.
• Support mid-year budget revisions and allocations.
• Maintain planning files and schedules.
• Document budget assumptions and methodologies.
• Prepare recurring financial reports and dashboards.
• Review results against budget and identify trends.
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and management reporting.
• Support Treasury with notes receivable monitoring and cash forecasting platform data.
