Job description

The Finance & Administration Manager serves as a cross-functional leader responsible for financial management, accounting oversight, administrative leadership, and human resources operations at a private, 70-employee manufacturing site. This role acts as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and the broader leadership team, supporting operational performance, financial discipline, compliance, and employee engagement. The position is accountable for driving financial results, maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements, and leading core HR processes including recruitment, employee relations, and workforce development. This hands‑on leadership role requires the ability to balance strategic direction with day‑to‑day execution across finance, administration, and HR functions in a mid‑sized manufacturing environment.

Key Finance & Accounting Responsibilities
  • Lead plant finance, accounting, controlling, treasury, and financial planning activities for the U.S. operation.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the General Manager & President and leadership team by providing financial analysis, operational insights, and decision support.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, forecasts, annual budgets, and management reports accurately and on time.
  • Drive financial performance through variance analysis, KPI monitoring, margin analysis, cost control initiatives, and profitability improvement measures.
  • Manage and improve manufacturing cost accounting processes, including inventory valuation, standard costing, labor and overhead absorption, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Analyze production performance, material usage, scrap, labor efficiency, and operational trends to identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures to support accuracy, transparency, and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, corporate policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits and act as the primary finance contact for auditors, tax advisors, banks, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, banking activities, and working capital performance, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory management.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, engineering, and purchasing teams to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of ERP data related to costing, inventory, production, and financial reporting.
  • Lead and track cost reduction initiatives with defined annual savings goals.
  • Participate in monthly operations reviews and provide financial insights on labor, scrap, throughput, and cost performance.
  • Support capital investment planning and prepare financial evaluations and ROI analyses for equipment, automation, and operational improvement projects.
  • Develop and maintain financial and operational KPIs to support data-driven management decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Supervise and support daily accounting activities, including AP, AR, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and transactional accounting processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within finance and operations to increase efficiency, reporting quality, and business performance.
  • Perform additional duties consistent with the scope and level of the role as assigned by the General Manager & President.
Key Human Resources Responsibilities
  • Manage HR information systems and related employee data.
  • Administer FMLA and ADA processes in coordination with executive leadership, senior management, and/or company legal counsel.
  • Maintain accurate employee personnel files and HR records.
  • Support managers with departmental staffing and recruiting activities.
  • Implement new hire orientation, employee onboarding, and recognition programs.
  • Support managers and supervisors with employee and departmental development.
  • Support employee relations and assist with conflict management, including coordinating exit interviews with managers.
  • Lead compensation and benefits administration and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state employment law requirements and support compliance with applicable HR regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Support managers and supervisors with employee evaluations, disciplinary and corrective action processes, and performance tracking.
  • Support employer branding and employee engagement initiatives, including the development and administration of employee incentive programs.
  • Manage unemployment claims, responses and related documentation.
  • Stay current on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive Finance, Accounting, and/or Human Resources experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience in automotive, industrial manufacturing, or mobility-related industries strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in plant controlling, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing variances, and operational finance.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance activities, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems required.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively to operational and non-financial stakeholders.
