Job summary

Movement Innovation Collaborative (MIC) is seeking a Director of Finance Administration to lead and optimize the finance function in a remote role for California-based operations. You will drive budgeting, reporting, and internal controls while partnering with leadership to advance organizational priorities and growth.

The role requires 7+ years in finance/operations and a track record of managing complex projects, improving systems, and building scalable processes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in operations, project management, finance administration, or related field.
• Experience with Expensify, Bill.com or similar platforms.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects from planning through implementation.
• Experience designing, documenting, and improving workflows, procedures, and administrative systems.
• Ability to translate broad strategic direction into clear plans, processes and deliverables.
• Experience developing SOPs, guidance documents, training materials, and tools.
• Experience supporting Finance, Accounting, or nonprofit administration.
• Strong understanding of financial processes and internal controls.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail and follow-through.
• Strong written and verbal communication; experience with remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and strengthen the Finance function by partnering with leadership to execute priorities.
• Direct day-to-day operations of Finance, including outsourced accounting.
• Supervise Finance staff and support professional development.
• Monitor workload, priorities, and project timelines.
• Develop tools and resources to improve staff experience with Finance.
• Translate financial policies into practical guidance for non-finance staff.
• Coordinate recurring finance processes, reporting timelines, and communications.
• Promote a collaborative service-oriented approach to financial stewardship.
• Lead finance projects from planning through execution.
• Coordinate work across Finance, Programs, Operations and external partners.
• Track deliverables, milestones, risks, and commitments.
• Ensure projects move forward with accountability and follow-through.
• Design, document, and improve finance policies, procedures, and workflows.
• Identify opportunities to streamline operations and strengthen internal controls.
• Support implementation and optimization of financial systems and technology.
• Lead change management and staff training on new processes.
• Direct Finance planning, budgeting, and operational initiatives.
• Prepare dashboards and materials for leadership and board committees.
• Lead coordination of annual audit and strategic priorities.
• Contribute to building a scalable Finance function for growth.
