About Us:
HeadQuarters is a global start-up that supports US cannabis companies in finance, sales, operations, and logistics. As we continue to scale, we are looking for a Finance & Accounting Lead to manage our accounting and finance team.

Working hours:9 am - 5 pm PST (6 pm - 2 am Serbian time zone).

Finance & Accounting Lead

Position Overview:

The Finance & Accounting Lead is responsible for managing a finance and accounting team, ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations. This role includes overseeing customer accounts, handling financial requests, and maintaining high service standards. The position also supports financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting efforts while driving process improvements, implementing best practices, and mentoring team members to promote ongoing growth and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee general accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with [US GAAP - 280E standards].
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide key insights and recommendations to leadership.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with department heads.
  • Monitor budget variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop financial models to support business planning and decision-making.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and enforce strong internal controls and financial policies.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor junior finance team members.
  • Collaborate with customer operations, HR, legal, and other departments.
  • Drive process improvement and efficiency initiatives within financial operations.

Other Administrative Support:

  • Provide support to management as needed.
  • Assist in streamlining accounting processes and improving operational efficiency.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, SAGE, Acumatica).

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Keen interest in process improvement and automation.
  • Excellent accuracy and analytical thinking.
