Job summary

Sammons Financial Group is offering a paid internship in Des Moines, IA, designed to give students hands-on experience in Financial Reporting, FP&A, Capital Planning, and Investment Accounting. The 8-10 week program includes exposure to multiple areas and development, culture, and volunteer events.

You will support the team on projects, assist with reports, and work with SAP, Prophix, and Workiva. Strong communication and teamwork are valued, and attendance and integrity are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics or similar field.
• Basic understanding of insurance is preferred.
• High level accounting ability across finance, investments, statistics.
• Strong spreadsheet skills.
• Bloomberg Terminal experience is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work on a team independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the team by assisting with projects and duties to advance department goals.
• Complete special accounting and analysis projects using SAP, Prophix, and Workiva.
• Assist with preparation of internal and external reports.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal and external parties.
• Assist with maintaining and improving internal controls.
• Demonstrate accountability to Sammons Financial Group Companies’ values.
• Regular attendance as per Attendance policy.
• Other duties as assigned.
