Job summary

Sammons Financial Group is offering a paid actuarial internship in Sioux Falls, SD. The 8–10 week program exposes you to projects in your hired work area, with development, culture, and volunteer events, and the possibility of extending hours into the school year.

The program follows an 80/10/10 structure to broaden your corporate experience. You will analyze product data, build spreadsheet tools, and modify actuarial models, while preparing reports for internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance.
• Successful completion of at least 1 SOA exam preferred.
• Strong mathematical ability including calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics, and numerical analysis.
• Strong computer skills with spreadsheets; SQL or SAS a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist analyses of new products and inforce business, including rate setting and profitability projections.
• Build spreadsheet tools to analyze product and policy data.
• Modify and run actuarial models and review results for appropriateness.
• Provide technical assistance for questions or problems across departments.
• Assist in creating reports and written communications for stakeholders.
• Analyze, summarize and present usage of distributed processing systems.
